Denver Honors Veterans with Annual Parade and Festival at City Park

On Saturday, November 8, 2025, Denver's City Park became a vibrant hub of patriotism as the community gathered for the 16th Annual Denver Veterans Day Parade and Festival.

 

Hosted by the Colorado Veterans Project, the event honored the bravery and sacrifices of veterans from all branches of the military.

 

The day's activities commenced with the Denver Veterans Day Run, featuring 5K and 10K races, as well as the 10K Rippetoe Rucksack Challenge.

 

This challenge paid tribute to Army Captain Russell Brian Rippetoe, an Arvada native who lost his life in combat in 2003.

 

Participants of all ages, including families and canine companions, took part in these events, embodying the community's spirit of remembrance and support.

 

Following the run, the Veterans Day Parade commenced at 10:30 a.m., weaving through City Park.

 

The procession showcased a diverse array of participants, including military ROTC units, veteran organizations, classic car clubs, and local high school students.

 

Notably, ROTC cadets from George Washington High School marched in full uniform, symbolizing the connection between past and present generations of service members.

 

The festival, which ran from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., transformed the park into a lively celebration of service.

 

Attendees enjoyed live music, a beer garden, and a variety of vendor booths offering resources and activities for all ages.

 

Families gathered to express their gratitude, with children creating thank-you cards and engaging in educational programs about military history.

 

Denver's commitment to its veterans extends beyond annual events.

 

The Denver VA Medical Center continues to provide comprehensive care to thousands of veterans each year.

 

Nonprofit organizations like Volunteers of America and Project Sanctuary offer essential services, including housing, counseling, and job training, ensuring that veterans receive the support they need to thrive in civilian life.

 

As the sun set over the Rockies, the day's festivities concluded with a solemn playing of taps, echoing across the city.

 

This poignant moment served as a reminder that the Mile-High City's heart beats high, proud, and eternally grateful for the sacrifices made by its veterans.
