Denver will honor Martin Luther King Jr. Day on January 19, 2026, through city-wide celebrations focused on civic unity and service.
The signature event, the Martin Luther King Jr. Marade, combines a march and parade, starting at 10:00 a.m. in City Park with speeches from Mayor Mike Johnston and community leaders. Participants will walk west along Colfax Avenue at 11:45 a.m., ending at Lincoln Veterans Memorial Park—demonstrating the city’s deep commitment to equality and justice.
Metropolitan State University of Denver will also host the MLK Peace Breakfast on January 16, where Georgia State Representative Park Cannon will speak about expanding opportunity and inclusion. The event honors local leaders advancing Dr. King’s values.
Aurora’s "I am the Dream" celebration marks its 40th year, featuring performances and official recognition by Mayor Mike Coffman, followed by a community prayer vigil.
These gatherings inspire Denver residents to unite for positive change and lasting progress.
